The sector has remained relatively stable and profitable, even amid the uncertainty of the pandemic. Australia’s natural resources, and mining, will play a pivotal role in the future prosperity of all Australians, Australia’s engagement with the world and the global movement on climate change and de-carbonisation.

The Australian mining sector is one of those most open to foreign investment, remains a cornerstone of Australia’s high levels of employment, and a major beneficiary of research activity and technological innovations that help advance its development.

As one of the world’s leading producers of critical minerals and metals, Australia’s mining sector is adapting to sustainability challenges, while also standing on the brink of unprecedented opportunities from a low-carbon future. To achieve this, not only is new investment required, but new technology and innovations are needed, as well as enhancements to workplace productivity.

Gold has had a good run …. for over 2,500 years for that matter! But does gold still have a future as an asset class? Gold was first used as a form of currency as early as 550 BC when King Croesus minted coins in what is now Turkey. But the adoption of the gold standard in the late 1800s, cemented its value in modern day finance. Welcome Back! It’s been over 2 years since the Asia Mining Club hosted its last in person event – thank you Covid 19 and protests! We are delighted to be back but so much has changed.  A global pandemic, COP26, supply chain disruptions, energy transition, East-West relations, soaring commodity prices, resurgent inflation and so-on and so-on.  What does this all mean for the Global Mining Sector and where do we go from here?
